Trip to Mussoorie

I am very sorry that it has been 10, or so, days since I wrote on here but we went on a weekend trip that did not have Internet. Then we had such a busy first part of the week. We got back from the trip on Monday, had our second bs on Tuesday that went even better than the first and had a friend that went to the bs tell us that he wants to read Bible every night that we are still here, and then on Wednesday we had a meeting with the Mayflower's and then planned for the Bible time and discussion with Neil. Which brings us to today; another wonderful day of His that He chooses to use me and many others throughout the world for His glory.

We first got picked up by a taxi into order to get to the train station at 5:30 am on Saturday. The train left at 6:50. We had a wonderful 6 hour train ride to a town that I do not remember the name of and then another taxi that drove for about an hour to our hotel in Mussoorie, India. Mussoorie is a hill station that used to be controlled by the British. While I say that it is a Hill Station....it really is a mountian range. Our hotel was on the side of a hill will a wonderful view of the city below. It was a wonderful climb for each taxi, in fact one had to let JP and I out of the car and climb the 100 yards to our room while the girls got half way with the taxi and only had about a 40 yard walk to their room.

1st day.....Saturday afternoon and night we went to a street that is literally called Mall Road and it just had all of these mom and pop shops, at was a blast. At the end of our shopping experience on this road I got approached by this older man, around 50, and started to have a conversation. Divine Contact?.....we will see. We were talking while the other three on this trip were getting a snake to eat before the hotel's dinner at 8:30 pm. To make a long story shorter he begins to ask me to come over to his hotel to have dinner at 9. Trying to be nice I told him no because we already had plans to eat dinner at our hotel at 8:30. Staying to his roots he did not take no for an answer; he asked again and while I was just going to tell him no again JP jumped on the gun and told him that we already paid for our dinner at our hotel, included in the deal, and that we would not be able to make it to his hotel for dinner at 9.....in addition we would have to get another taxi and we would not be doing that. After saying no twice me was persistent and told me that I was his best friend and told me more about his family. His son that is around the age of 15 and a daughter around the age of 17. I asked more questions about his son and what they were doing there. (Nothing about his daughter) He told me all about his daughter and nothing about his son....of which I asked about. Later right before we walked away to get to our taxi and go to OUR dinner this guy said, "see you at 9; right? I will be waiting for you." That night at the hotel, during and after dinner, JP and I were talking about the day and discussing how fun shopping was, the guy. We finally decided that he was trying to get me, us, over for dinner that night and all of the rest of the nights that we had in Mussoorie so that he could hook me up with his 17 year old daughter.

2nd day.....just as "exciting" and interesting as the first day in Mussoorie. Our first tourist activity for the day was to go see a Hindu temple. This just was not any regular old temple for a Hindu god, it was 1 out of 7 "special" temples on top of a huge "hill". What the girls would say as a little mountain. I do understand what they are saying because we later found out that it was a 3 km climb to the temple. The climb was better since the temple had a concrete path that all four of us used on the way up, yet on the way down JP and I went off the man-made, concrete, path and did it old style on the earth. This temple was enough excitement in and of itself yet we still had the whole day to see a more beautiful side of this town. So the driver took us to a park that was called Eco Park. Which had a lot of monkeys that loved grilled corn and hated rocks that anyone would pick up, very scared...the monkeys that is. After seeing this park a getting some great pictures we moved to our next place of the day. Mussoorie's "biggest lake".... more like a made-made pool. Nothing great happened here except more pictures that made us, the girls, feel like celebs that were just standing there so that "snaps" (pictures) could be taken of them. Yet the girls just loved paddle boating in the pool, you will never get that experience in the states....haha. Something that us men loved was going to see a water fall, it was actually natural. It was very beautiful yet the Indians did not let it be the beautiful that He created it to be and made a pool so that people could bathe in the falls water.

3rd day.....we had another day of tourism. First another water fall that was blocked at parts and trashed all over. "It is their religion", JP said. This water fall was very beautiful and JP and the girls got a lot of wonderful pictures of the beauty of His creation. then before we had to leave to get back to the train station around 4:30 pm we went to another lake (man-made) that looked just like the other one yet it was a little bigger.

We got back to Gurgaon around midnight on Tuesday morning and that takes you back to the beginning of the blog. I hope and lift up that all of you that are reading the blog are having a wonderful day, if you have not had it already, and glorify Him with everything that you do.

These last 8 days are going to go by so fast and going to be sooo busy so I do not know if I will be able to blog any more. At the same time I say that; I will try very hard to blog the Saturday or Sunday before we leave.

The time of my life

I want to start this post with saying I am sorry for not writing to you all in two weeks and having you worry about me over here half way around the world. Our schedules are not always conducive to taking the time to get on here and type a long message about what happened that day, days or even week. It has been two weeks now and I am finally having the time to sit down in front of my only communication with all of my family; I love you all!!! Thank you for lifting me and those I meet up to Him for specifics and generalities. It is much needed and I can defiantly tell that you are lifting everything up to Him. He has shown Himself to me in so many loving ways, shapes or forms. This life is amazing, awesome, and any other positive word that you can think of in your mind. We only have three weeks left and I want to stay here because I have met some wonderful people here that do not know the truth yet, but they are still His children and they do not know that yet. It kills me, burdens my heart, and the knowledge that He is the only one that can help them. But anyways, to get off of the soap box and to not to tell you all of the stories that happened in these two weeks, yet to just give you'll a little taste of the fun and excitements that I have had in Him.

That first week was very interesting and while it was very tiring we had lots of fun meeting and visiting with people, Indians. Going to malls, shopping centers (centre) and parks to visit and meet with people....this trip is wonderful and I hope that I have the opportunity to do the same thing in the future, only if He allows it. People here are wonderful, yet can be very frustrating at some point doing the day. This is another thing that you could lift up for all of us; that we will have patients when talking with natives here and that we would not act out of our anger and show Him through all of our actions. Because these two weeks have gone by soo fast I really do not know which stories are from which week. So here are some stories from the last weeks.

Oh man....the stories here from Incredible India. We hired a driver to a place that I do not remember right now but anyway we were on our way back from there and about 5 minutes into the trip back home we show a motor bike that was turning onto the road that we were on and this lady that was riding side saddle. Here is the terrible part. The lady fell off the side of the bike and was knocked out and other guys, including the guy on the bike, picked her up off of the concrete and covered her face that was very bloody. I think that there was a huge cut above her nose and seemed pretty bad. Thank Him that we were behind her because if other people were closer than us she would most likely be dead and would not have the chance to hear about Him. We have heard too many stories with that as it's ended, very sad. The trip does not stop there, we are still coming back on our way to stop by someplace to eat because it is around 7, early dinner for Indian's, and we have to stop for something more funny than the first story that might lighten the mood. Anyways we stop bellow train tracks and before I asked why I wondered and thought for a while. The reason, I could not come up with on my own so I asked JP to ask the driver. After the wonderful translation of JP the driver answered that the locals were stopping for the train. Us Americans asked the wonderful penetrating question of, why? The driver answered, in English, "the trains holes are open"....poop holes; haha. He was being very respectful of JP's car (he was a cool guy with a very cool story about Him). This is nothing like a side mirror knocked off the side of the car and being cased by other cars and trucks, yet still very fun and funny to get to tell you and other friends when I get back in the states.

This trip here is not only fun for us; He is also working in my life and changing me for the better. Not like He changes people for the bad; haha. Well anyways this week we a little rough for me spiritually and learned the tough way about how to take criticism., correction and people putting me in my place. Well to make a long story short; it was a long night of opinions, hard words to take in and lessons from Him. That night was very hard to understand and the next day we had D* and at first I did not want to go at all, yet I did after the conversation was over and I am so glad that I did. JP is very wise and I am very glad that I learned the lesson here with him instead of later in life when I have a lot more responsibility. I was still thinking and pondering the lesson the next day and now I am very very thankful for it. This has all come during the time when we are doing D* about Leadership and that next day was about leading women. Leading like Him and all of His characteristics that He had while He was leading people. It is fun and very challenging to practicing it with these two girls here, yet great practice and I am learning a lot from trying to implement it here and now (the more practice=the better).

This next week is going to be very great and these three weeks are going to fly by. In two days and every Tuesday after that we are going to have some of our friends that we have made over at my housing to possibly play an American game or an America movie, talk about it that displays a characteristic of Him and what He has done for us in the beginning, the problem that all men have and then the last Tuesday that we are here we will talk about the solution that He made for us. This will be an new experience for all of us, yet such a blessing and fun.

I can not wait to come to the state and have sooo many stories to tell family and friends about all of these experiences and fun stories that I had the opportunity to have while I am over here in India, hopefully not for the last time. Which is something/an idea that I can and will tell all of you later when I get there; He is awesome to work with and for.

Till the next time we get to talk. I love all of you!!!

He is at work

I will sadly predict that most of my posted from now on will not be as long as the other two, yet they will be full of great information for you all that read this. Which I thank you sooo much for because if you are reading this you are also most likely lifting me up to Him; a much needed thing to this life and what we are doing here. Lifting up to Him in order to send us to the correct places to go and the correct people to put in our path to meet. We are all doing well in all ways. There are little frustrations and angers to go along with the culture shock, yet this is natural when working with human beings.

This week I met two guys that and I have contacted with one and we are meeting again on the 24th of June. Please life the both of us up so that our friendship will grow in Him. Also that he will ask me questions and that He will give me the words to speak. I am very excited to see him again, he speaks really good English and works at T.G.I. Fridays. M works at T.G.I and sounds like he is a really cool guy, he was showing us magic tricks all night, and he was very excited for my phone call. Indian's sometimes have too good of a memory for us Americans, we have to write everything down and they just memorize it. The other person that I met also works, in a clothing store, in one of the malls and I hope to visit him again sometime this next week. Please just lift up that I will find him and He will give me the words and the items to talk about.

Please lift up to Him that I would met more and more people as this next week progresses, for those divine appointments to come. Not only that but also so that I will know when they are and be very intentional with each conversation. The people here are wonderful and very hospitable.

End of the second week

The women's team that was here all week is about to leave tonight. We had a wonderful week talking about the culture of the Indian people and how their religion is intertwined into everything within their culture and what they do on a daily basis. That filled the fist two days and we ended with two days of Pwalking/driving with a shopping day in the middle. After long trips in the car those three days the last one, yesterday, was the best. Full of excitement, near death experiences and lots of laughs we made it to dinner and then finally home.

The last trip home with the women's team can not go on without more explanation.
On our smooth trip of 4 hours in order to Pwalk and Pdrive an area that Global Connections is looking to go in everything was perfect except some sore butts, cramped legs ready to stretch and a med. student that though that he was tough driving down the wrong side of the street. Stopping, getting out of the car and then starring at us the whole time gesturing for us to go around him, ha ha. I just love some Indians. After we Pwalked and did a little sight seeing we got back into the car and started to the other city for some Pdriving. Getting down the hill top seemed like a trip in and of itself. After a little bit of driving and some picture taking a window got stuck. Trying to get it to come up manually we decided to shut off the car and let the mechanics rest for a while and then try it again. However can up with that idea, I think it was K, either has a lot of experience or is very smart with cars; I think that she has a lot of experience. Not even two seconds after this happened my seat belt locked up and I could not get it to buckle in. JP used his magical hands and with more of his experience he got it to unlock. While this was going on someone with an undisclosed name, for pride's sake, was taking a drink of her water and immediately started laughing either because of the seat belt or something that JP said, such a funny guy. A woman that is a nurse and I that has a lifeguard background sprung to the occasion ready to do the necessary things to get this person breathing again after drowning in a couple inches, if that, of water. Yet after and minute or two of coughing and gasping for air she came around and started breathing again. Mind you that we are on a hill top with the nearest body of water about a mile away.
So we get down this hill top safe and sound only by his grace.
We then get to the other town that we Pdrove in because it is in the middle of the day and it was most likely near 110 degrees outside. For all that I can remember driving area this city was safe and nothing new and exciting happened except for seeing a palace on water and the pink city. But the trip back home is a different story.
This is the part where I do not really remember a lot from because there was just too many things that happened all at once; we were doing battle and someone didn't like it, if you did not have this idea in your head yet. To give you the condensed version because I do not have a lot of time on this Saturday morning. Two black cars and too many trucks to count that cut us off, the glass of the passenger side mirror broken off by a truck that was creeping up while we were stopped. Needless to said on our way back we were constantly avoiding trucks and racing to get away from the black cars whom did not have any concept of lanes and boldly should NOT have their licence to drive in ANY country, let alone India which does seem to have any rules.
I'm sorry that this post did not have a lot of details but we have be so busy and having some fun and crazy times I have not had the chance to journal any of these nights. The goods news is that these times and memories will be with me forever because they are so crazy that I will have to go brain dead in order for me to forget what happened, ha ha.

Arrival plus a very funny story

I want to start off this post by telling you that I am very sorry for not posting anything before this. I just have not had any sort of time to spend any significant amount of time on here to do this. The Mayflower's have ran me to the ground to help me in adjusting to the time, it has helped a lot. Thank you for being patient with me.

It was a very long first day, even longer than these other four days that we have been here, spending 17 hours on a single plane for various reasons was a very long test of staying away; for the most part. Leaving Chicago around 10:20, plane was supposed to leave at 7:20, Monday night and then we did not get into New Delhi, India until 12, midnight, Wednesday morning. It was a very new experience to saw the least.

The last chance to eat beet was taken advantage of. In Chicago we went and ate at Chili's, my favorite restaurant if you didn't know, and I got the wonderful Oldtimer. Thank Him that I had it when I did because after we got on the plane around 7:10 we sat on the plane for a while and then, just like normal, the plane was going toward the runway. Just having a few planes ahead of us I thought that we were going to get out of there on time, but He had other plans. It was a great to land at night here, we wouldn't have if it was on schedule, because we went right to sleep we when got unpacked and such. Yet that was after watching about five movies, four tv shows and a video game.

Oh no!, how could I forget to even mention Indian traffic. Speed bumps are everywhere and then coming to find out that there are basically no laws, it's fun!

Ever since this first night I know rest can be from Him, I never wanted to go to sleep this much in my whole life. Even though it was on a couch and I only slept for four hours. I was rested, pumped and ready to learn more about he culture of India. Lets get it started.

It is in the morning here so I had to rush this and so I can't really tell you the whole story so hopefully I will see you when I get back to the states so that I actually tell you the whole story, it is great! We were at the mall and we parked underground, yet we did not get a parking ticket. We were waiting for one but the people working the entrance told us that we could go on ahead and get in the mall. This was our mistake. Anyways, we parked and then went into the mall. The ladies shopped and us guys went to some electronic stores and then meet up with someone he knew. So we talked until his break was over and he had to go back to work. When his break was done the ladies were already back from shopping, what a surprise, and done with there lunch. So then we got our lunch and then ate it pretty fast. After lunch we were done and so we headed to the car to leave. This is where it get interesting.

Mrs. Mayflower is expecting in August, is white and she was tired from walking in the mall all day. Remember that we didn't get a ticket when we went down to park? Well you NEED that to get out and it tells them how long you were in the mall which tells them how much you pay them. Well anyway JP gave them what it usually cost and then the guy that was taking the money asked for more, they usually bump up the price on holidays but it wasn't a holiday, but he gave them more anyway. To make a long story short they brought out the head of security for parking and he asked to see his identification and car information, we did, and not two seconds later; in fact I think that she interrupted the security officer. Mrs. Mayflower told the security man that this is NOT OK in the culture that I come from; I am calling my embassy.

Doing well and having fun; learning A LOT.

Getting ready to leave

Here I go, let us start this journey together as I start blogging and sharing this time in my life with all of you. Welcome to my blog!

Many of my questions that come with this wonderful trip to are physical instead of the "battle" that I will face metally. I just wanted to help you with some ease of mind for family and friends and let you know that I will be taken care of with so many resource at my disposal. While I say this I know many of you that I know, especially those of you that are parents, are still going to worry. I beg you to just remember the words of Him in our first gospel. My mind is fully on the wonderful thing of jet lag and all of its affects on the body with mental funtionality. A new culture with new food, that I am sure I will eat, and many new people to see and get to know I just really need to be on the top of my social skills. Please have this in mind especially when I will be in India starting the second of June, traveling all day on the first.

While I was just planning on writing something to the extend of a hello and welcome, it turned into this. This is a whole new experience for me and those around me so I am pretty sure that I will want to document all that I can, be prepared for a lot of reading. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

I am very excited and ready do get over there to meet so many people from that culture.
